Lady Update Jan 2012

Lady Update Jan 2012

Lady is still doing well, she still has her chest feathers and is still a quite character!!

She’s becoming more confident in the parrot room, and will now venture into the kitchen to look for me, and she loves to sit on one of the trees in front of the window so she can watch us when we are in the kitchen.

She still hates the kids, and can only join me for evening cuddles after the kids have gone to bed, this is so she cannot attack them. She still likes to attack the other animals though and will antagonise the dog at every opportunity!! What’s worse is that she wins every time, and the poor dog ends up running off to sulk which makes Lady more confident and more determined to get the dog even more….

Lady is such a funny girl, her giggle is the most dirtiest I’ve ever heard, but usually we only hear it after she’s bitten someone or something!! In her own way, she knows she’s the boss except for when my Grey is out because he is the only male and is king of the castle, but I think Lady accepts this, and is happy being boss number 2.

Our house would never be the same without her, and with her antics, she certainly makes our house a more lively place.
I couldn’t imagine my world without Lady, she’s a nutter just like her mama ;)

Update On Lady The Cockatoo!

Update On Lady The Cockatoo!

Lady is doing very well, she has met the new re-home I have, and providing that Lady gets all the attention, she’s not been bothered by the new arrival :)

Lady is coping in the parrot very well, although she’s not utilising all the space in her cage, which means she’s not exploring the rest of her toys, and as a result of that she has plucked a little more recently, but she has left her chest feathers alone :) She has plucked her lower neck and her shoulders a little, but other than that, she’s been absolutely fine.
She enjoys watching us through the parrot room window, and enjoys her night time fuss and cuddles.

Lady still likes to attack anything that might interrupt her fuss and cuddles, i.e the kids, dog, cats……
So her fuss and cuddles are limit to the evenings, when she can come into the lounge without causing havoc or inflicting pain……..
Well, most of the time…..

Here is a photo of Lady attacking one of my cats, who was trying to sleep behind my legs, and was not bothering with Lady at all….

Here is the second photo which shows a very pleased Lady after BITING the cat and giggling to herself……

The poor cat was not impressed!!!

There is never a dull moment with Lady around, she makes me laugh sooooooo much, she can be very Jekyll and Hyde at times, but my life wouldn’t be the same without her. I adore the little bones off her :)

Lady – Update

Lady - Update

Lady is doing very well, she seems to have settled into the parrot room very well, we had some issues with fireworks echoing in the room, which caused Lady to panic, but this was quickly resolved, by taping up the extractor fan, and providing a TV to drown out the noise. She has plucked a bit, but this was to be expected but she has kept her chest feathers, so overall I am very pleased.

Lady has started playing with her new toys in her new cage too, she loves the cardboard toys I placed around her cage and will sit shredding them for hours. She will also fly over to the Java Tree to nose through the window at what I’m doing in the kitchen.

Lady has coped very well with having my Grey as her cage neighbour, it hasn’t seemed to bother her at all, she appears to be relaxed providing my Grey doesn’t get too close through the divider.

Hopefully next year I can put the finishing touches to the parrot room, for example toys and ropes for the ceiling, as I would like to encourage Lady to climb and swing about. For now Lady is settled, and once Christmas is done and out the way, then I can work on adding ropes and swings, and getting her to have a good old play :)

Lady – The Parrot Room

Lady - The Parrot Room

Lady has been doing really well over the past month, and still has all her chest feathers. She is still plucking at her cheeks, neck, and shoulders but I’m very confident that she can overcome this, because she lets them grow, and it’s only when she’s having a strop she will pluck them.

Over the past few weeks I have been trying to prepare Lady for moving into the parrot room. I was placing her in the room for short periods of time so she could get used to the new surroundings. She seems to like the fact that she can see me through the kitchen window, and likes to watch what I am doing. :)

I moved Lady and my Grey into the room on Wednesday, and so far so good :)
There was some issues with fireworks last night, which were echoing into the room because of the extractor fan that had to be fitted, but that has not been taped up, and they now have an old telly in the room to drown out the noise :)

Here are some photos :)

There is still lots of things that need to be done with the room, safety plugs are still needed, and of course, toys and ropes around the room, but the major stuff is done. :)
Lady is still getting used to her new cage and all the amazing new toys she has, but overall she has settled in extremely well and I am very very proud of her :)

Lady, 2nd Blood Test Results!

Lady, 2nd Blood Test Results!

Lady has been doing great over the past few months, her plucking has improved and she now has a chest full of feathers, she is enjoying toys, and is enjoying time out of her cage :)

This week we were back at the vets for her follow up blood test. She had her test done on Tuesday, and today whilst taking my other birds for their blood tests, I got her results……

It’s good news :)

Her liver has improved and her white blood cell count is normal :) The vet does not want to endoscope unless she falls ill.

I’m am so pleased, as I really did not want to put her through an endoscopy! So, unless their is an emergency, Lady will not be back at the vets until her next annual blood work which will be next September :)

The parrot room is almost finished, so providing my other birds blood tests results come back the same, I will be treating Lady and my Grey to new cages, or one big double cage with devider :)

I’m so proud of Lady right now, she has made amazing progress over the last few months, part of me thinks that she has realised that she is part of my family forever. I love her to bits :)

Here is Lady back in 2010
