Cheeky Bum?

April 21st, 2011
Cheeky Bum?

What a character Cosmo is!!!  He is fantastic and is so funny.  Cosmo picks up new words very quickly from both me and Hughie but also from Billy and Echo too.  He loves to make a farting sound so every time he does it we say “stinky bum” to him.  Within a few days he was making the sound followed by “cheeky bum”  ha ha!  It took him a few days but now he says stinky bum although sometimes he likes to mix and match  lol.

He loves to whistle the tune to pop goes the weasel but I don’t think Billy likes it  - he keeps shouting “QUIET!” at him.  But Cosmo is quick with his response of “up yours”.  Nice!!

Cosmo is still very much more for Hughie and Hughie can do pretty much anything with him.  So we got a harness to try and here is the result – 1st day we got it

As you can see he took to it really well so we are building up the length of time he has it on so he can eventually get out with it.

We also finally found a new cage for Cosmo as his original one wasn’t the greatest.  He’s been moved in a week and settled in straight away.  Here he is on the day he moved in eating his tea.  We did want something a bit bigger bit this is much better for now.

As you can see Cosmo is really beginning to explore everything around him and the other 2 are getting used to him being here.  He is also getting better with me and if Hughie’s not around he will come to me for a wee head scratch.  He loves his food and clears his bowl at tea time every night but he was trying to feed some of it to Hughie the other night.  From the look on his face I don’t think Hughie was too impressed  lol.

I’m sure there’s going to be many more tales to tell with the terrible trio  :)

Cheeky Boy!

Cheeky Boy!

Well Cosmo has well and truly settled and is showing his true colours.  He follows Hughie everywhere and will fly all through the house to get to him.  He just loves his cuddles as you can see although he’s still not too sure about me.  We are getting there though and he did let me stroke his head through the bars of his cage this morning.  We are getting there.

Cosmo says “Hello” as soon as his cover is off in the morning and has shown his talent of singing Jingle Bells and whistling Pop Goes The Weasel.  He says he is a cheeky boy and he definitely is.  He is slowly getting to know Billy and Echo and we are keeping a close eye while they sort out the pecking order.  So far Billy isn’t too bothered but Echo likes a chase and  is still getting used to the fact there’s another bird who likes to fly about and be crazy!  That’s where I come in.  When Echo chases him I get a visit.

All in all we feel like Cosmo is really part of the family and is such a character.  I think he’s even thinking about joining the forum – certainly makes interesting reading!

One Week In…..

March 26th, 2011
One Week In.....

Believe it or not Cosmo has now been here for a whole week!  It’s flown in.  In this short time Cosmo has really settled in and is now starting to try and assert himself with us.  He is more vocal every day and loves to wolf whistle.  He likes to land on our shoulders which we are trying to discourage – especially since he went for my glasses!

Cosmo loves his toast and palm oil in the morning and is very good when I go in and out for his bowls; just sitting watching.  He is eating all kinds of pellets and eats all of his mash for tea.

As Cosmo used to live with a man he is very keen on going to see Hughie, even more so if he has a cup of tea on the go!

He did however celebrate his 1 week anniversary with his very first head scratch!

He did manage a couple of nips in there but I’m sure this will stop in time.  We feel like Cosmo has always been with us and are looking forward to the good times ahead!

Cosmo’s Fast Progress

March 20th, 2011
Cosmo's Fast Progress

Well after only 2 days of being with us Cosmo is making very fast progress!!  He had a shower this morning which he didn’t love but didn’t really hate either.  It’s already made an improvement to his feathers which were looking a little scruffy.  Cosmo is very good at trying new things and is already eating pellets.  He is not aggressive at all and will happily watch me go in and out his cage for his food and water bowls.  He especially likes the hagens and zupreem natural pellets – here’s a couple of pics

Cosmo is also becoming much more vocal.  We have heard him say “hello”, “Cosmo”, “step up” and “come on then”.  He also does a variety of beeps and whistles and imitates a terrible cough!!

Finally and probably the best progress was last night.  Cosmo was having his out of cage time and his curiosity got the better of him.  His first target was Hughie

and a short while after I got a visit too

We are so pleased that Cosmo is settling in so quickly!  I think it was definitely meant to be!

Meet Cosmo!

March 17th, 2011
Meet Cosmo!

Today Hughie traveled quite a way to collect the new AGPC re-home, Cosmo.

He is 2 years old and DNA sexed as male, Cosmo’s owner is sadly ill and is unable to look after him.

Hughie had a long chat and a cuppa with him and then brought the very chirpy Cosmo back, so far Cosmo has spoken a little and when he got home Hughie offered him some veggies which he tucked straight into a bit of red pepper, baby corn on the cob and green beans.

When I came home from work I went straight over to speak to Cosmo and was greeted with a growl!!  Only to be expected after living with only a male so we may have a little work to do. Although I got this growl Cosmo accepted food from my hand and the more I spoke to him the more relaxed he became.

Obviously not one to shy away, Cosmo tucked right in to his chop/mash mix for his tea

This certainly brought him to life and he began swinging around and bashing his toys! He’s been out for a good fly about and we are sure he will be settled in no time at all.

Here’s a few more pictures

Lots more news and photos on Cosmo to follow
