Lady – Day 1

June 14th, 2010

Lady has been with us since yesterday evening, she has settled in really well. We let her have a quiet day today, so she’s been observing her surroundings, and the comings and goings of the house. We decided to convert her diet with immediate effect, we have placed her on Zupreem Natural with Healx Sunshine Factor, and she is eating really well, we also gave her my very own, home made parrot mash, she had a little but seemed to prefer the pellets (think she might be trying to tell me something about my cooking).

Lady is now in bed ready for another new day in her new home.

Meet Lady, AGPC Newest Rehome

June 13th, 2010

My name is Soo, and I am one of the moderators for the AGPC. Today I have given a forever home to a Cockatoo called Lady, she is 4 years old, and is a plucker. Lady has been plucking for the last 10 months, but for the last 2 weeks she has been taken care of by a member of the forum, this member resuced Lady from her previous life, but felt that she could not devote the time and attention that Lady needed.

We collected her earlier today, and after cleaning and setting up her cage, she is now settled, and asleep.

Here are some pics of when she first arrived home.

Sammi’s First Trip Outside!

June 12th, 2010

Today we got Sammi’s ‘coat’ on and took him outside to stretch his wings! We think this may be the first time in his 33 years that he has been harnessed and taken out so we feel a real big achievement in having done it. He clung so hard to Dil but at the same time looked so excited to be outside and ‘free’ instead of in his cage. He had a little flap and fly around, he sampled a few odd logs we have dotted about and he walked on the grass. It was a beautiful sight to see and we are so proud of him. After bringing him inside I was talking to him and he never fluffed up. I offered him a sunflower seed and he stuck his little tongue out, licked my finger and so gently took the seed! I was so happy that he never ripped my finger off along with it. HaHa! He is such a little character, we love him so much and cant imagine being without him now. Im even trying to persuade Dil to get a Pak-O-Bird for him, but he has to be 100% on it as only he can really handle Sammi. Here are some pics of him enjoying the garden.
