Rosie Update

May 11th, 2012
Rosie Update

Rosie has been with us now for sometime, she’s a happy birdie, but still plucks, she is due to go to the vets for her check up and full bloods.

Rosie gets on very well with all of us here and is becoming friendly to our new addition, Charlie Boy who is also a rescue/re home birdie.

Rosie loves her out of cage time and explores and plays with all the out of cage toys, she is also now very good at flying and enjoys flying from room to room.

Since her last blog she’s had a new bigger cage/home and she’s settled in very well with no problems, she takes to new toys all the time with no problems too.

She’s such a joy and calls herself “princess” as that’s what we say to her..lol

She’s also a chatter box and has an extensive vocabulary of words, whistles, sounds etc
I’ll update her blog again once we’ve been to the vets and got her results.

Trulli Moves To Her Forever Home.

April 13th, 2012
Trulli Moves To Her Forever Home.

On Sunday the 8th April 2012 we took Trulli to her forever home to live with Darren and his family.

Trulli stepped up lovely to Darren with no problem and he was smitten by her as she truly is a wonderful birdie.

Her new cage/home was up and ready for her and full of lovey new toys.

We wish Darren lots of happiness with her and he will now be taking over her blog and we’re sure we’ll all enjoy reading and seeing how Trulli Scrumptious settles in to her new home.

Kato Moves To His New Forever Home.

April 12th, 2012
Kato Moves To His New Forever Home.

On Sunday 8th April 2012 we took Kato to his new forever home, he’s gone to live with Mary and Russell.

His new cage/home was up and ready for him and it was filled with lots of new toys.

Kato Stepped up to both Mary and Russell straight away and seemed very happy to sit with them getting head tickles.

Mary and Russell also have another CAG named Thabo, both Thabo and Kato were happy to sit near each other while they were on Russell’s hands, they both just looked at each other, but they were very relaxed, so I think they will be great friends and company for each other.

We wish both Mary and Russell a happy time with Kato and look forward to them sharing his life with us on here.

Mary will be now continuing Kato’s blog.

Update On Charlie Boy

April 7th, 2012
Update On Charlie Boy

Charlie boy has been with us now almost two months, he’s not plucking as much and now has some pin feathers coming through.
He’s now starting to fly a little, he gets about a foot off the ground and can fly the length of our lounge, but he does prefer to walk.

He’s very cage territorial and even when his door is left open all day he prefers to stay in his cage or stands on his door, I have to really coax/force him to get him out of the cage and as soon as your back is turned he heads straight back to it and climbs in.
When he’s out I tend to shut the door so he can’t get straight back in as I do like him to get some exercise, when this happens he happily follows me around the home, he’s like my shadow lol

I’ve been trying to get him to “step up” but so far he’s not cooperating, if you put your hand towards him, he lunges, attacks and screaches like he’s being murdered, although saying that, he does let me give him head scratches through the bars of his cage and has now started to let me give him head scratches when he’s out of the cage, but this is still very rare!

He does get very excited when he sees me, he drops his wings and does a little dance, but even with this “bond” he’s still scared of my hands.
I think it’s going to be a long process with him to get him hand tame and although I’ll keep trying, I know it may never happen.

He’s definitely a ladies birdie as he always tries to “attack/bite” Stevie and sometimes he does get Stevie and he has given Stevie a few nasty bites!

He’s now fully converted to Animal Zone Pellets and he’s doing well on them, so I’m very pleased with that.

He now also loves his shower time and gets very excited when I say “shower time” he even now opens his wings at times to get more of his body wet.

He’s a constant chatter box and loves to dance, he laps up any and all attention he gets.
He’s enjoying lots more toys now and shows no fear of any new toy/perch I put in his cage.

Charlie boy is such a sweet birdie who does need an experienced forever home who is willing to put the time and work in to him, they also need to be very aware that it could take a very long time for him to gain trust and start making significant progress, but until we find him a forever home I’m happy to continue working with him and fostering him. I’ll also be more than happy to continue his blog until he moves, so you can all still hear about this wonderful birdie and follow his progress.

Another rescue, Meet Kato

March 31st, 2012
Another rescue, Meet Kato

Kato arrived on 26/03/12, he’s gorgeous and so far friendly (with me, he did bite Stevie )
He’s 10 years old and will be 11 in June, he talks none stop and actually looks like one of my birdies, but bigger.

It was a very sad move for him and his owners, as they’ve had him from 12-13 weeks old and love him dearly, he’s showered daily and is covered at night.
He was on a seed diet but has now been fully converted to AZ pellets.

He’s had to be re homed due to personal reasons.
There were lots and lots of tears and at one point I thought they were going to change their mind, it broke mine and Stevie’s hearts listening to their very sad story and seeing how much Kato is loved.

He has now settled very well and goes to either me or Stevie.
Who ever gets to adopt him will be very happy as he’s a wonderful birdie and a joy to have in our home.
