Neo Finds His Forever Home…

March 4th, 2012
Neo Finds His Forever Home...

Today I took Neo to his forever home with Phil and Donna.

I woke up and it had to be raining didn’t it! I had a car to empty and a cage to put into it so I braved it and go wet! it was all for a good cause anyway :)

I put Neo in his travel cage and he sat co-pilot as I know he loved looking out of the window when I collected him, so we set off and he looked out to see where we were heading, he travels really well and would happily sit in the car looking out the window all day.

When we got to his new forever home Phil and Donna welcomed us in and straight away talked to Neo like he was a old member of the family and he seemed at ease with them and even let Phil have a cheeky stroke on his head!, he meet the other members of the household (the cats) Neo wasn’t bothered by the at all he came from a house with cats and dogs and spent hours calling the cats and telling them to go away when they get near him …. he even started dancing which was lovely he was so relaxed.

They loved little Neo and his Fluffy bum and are excited about helping him grow his feathers back, They are even going to treat him to a new cage to go with the new toys they have already got for him.

It was lovely to meet them both and I know Neo will be loved and already is part of the family.

I will now pass Neo’s blog over to them to update it x

Cosmo Gave Us A Scare!

March 2nd, 2012
Cosmo Gave Us A Scare!

Well after having Cosmo for almost a year he decided to give me and Hughie a bit of a scare.  He became ill!

One morning I uncovered Cosmo to find something on his cage cover like he had regurgitated so I asked Hughie to keep an eye on him that day after making sure he ate some breakfast.  By the time I got home that night Cosmo had started having very watery poops.  He was still eating but definitely not himself at all, followed by him being a bit sick.

So the next day we got an appointment with the avian vet and Hughie took him where he got tests and checks.  He was given an injection of antibiotic and we picked him up that night.  He was really just eating and sleeping, he was so quiet which is certainly not like him at all.

The next few days we took him back each morning to get another injection of antibiotic and luckily by the Sunday we saw a great improvement in Cosmo.  He was playing and talking again.  What a relief!!!

We still don’t know what caused Cosmo to be ill but the vet had said it could have been something underlying.  We’re just so glad to have our boy back to being the noisy and cheeky chap that he is.

And as you can see from the photos he’s enjoying being fussed over just as much as before.

Rocky The Blue Fronted Amazon Has A Forever Home!!!

Rocky The Blue Fronted Amazon Has A Forever Home!!!

Rocky has been with an AGPC foster carer for almost a month now, and reading his story broke my heart, so we have offered him a forever home to join our family and flock, and as long as everything goes according to plan, we shall be collecting him on Saturday!!! :D

I am no stranger to the noisy world of the Amazons as I own THE LOUDEST of all the Amazon parrots, which is the beautiful Orange Winged Amazon :)
I have a massive soft spot for Amazon parrots, they really are wonderful birds, with fantastic personalities, they may be a little noisier than some, but that doesn’t bother me not one little bit, and as an added bonus, I live in an end terrace, so not an issue for my neighbours either :)

Rocky is already a very spoilt birdie!!! He has a brand new cage and a whole load of new toys on order which will be here on Thursday, and I cannot wait to set up his new home.
He will be quarantined on arrival, and will then have a trip to the vets in a few weeks time. Although he will be away from the other birds, he will still be able to hear and see them through the window, then after quarantine and clear test results, he will be moved into the parrot room along with the others :)

It has been said that Rocky prefers men, and that’s fine, my other Amazon prefers men too, but has learned to trust accept me as her main carer, and hopefully Rocky will learn this too.

It’s a new start for Rocky :D
I cannot wait to meet him and bring him home :D

Little Ruby Update

Little Ruby Update

Ruby is doing great, and is such a lovely little girl. She has moved into the parrot room with the other birds, and seems to be enjoying the antics that occur in there. She has even taught my other Grey some of her noises, beeps, and whistles :)
She doesn’t seem too fussed about being with the other birds, and if any of them fly to her, she soon tells them where to go, she may be little, but boy can she hold her own!!! My other Grey, who is a BIG boy, is absolutely petrified of her, even though she seems quite keen on him, he won’t go anywhere near her!!! :P

Ruby loves her food and eats very well for such a little birdie, and is maintaining a great weight. She doesn’t seem to like big pelleted foods or treats, but gets on great with smaller foods.

Ruby is a fantastic little addition to our family, she is a little party animal which I would think comes from her being a pub parrot when she was younger, and I’m pretty sure she could show us a thing or two!!!
She loves music and really gets her groove on, that girl can bust some moves, all she needs to do is teach the hubby!!! :P

Here she is, in between munching on her food :)

Another New Rehome – Meet Neo!

Another New Rehome - Meet Neo!

Neo was 10 on the 4 February from what i can make out he has plucked since about 6 months of age which is a bit strange. he is quite badly plucked no tail and only a couple of flight feathers on his wings and down feather all over he does look a little strange bless him but he seems happy.

He was rescued 6 years ago by the guy i got him from it was a neighbours who didnt look after it and he just walked out with it one day and said he isnt leaving it there … good on him, Neo is use to being out all day and night and is happy just to sit on our playstand all day and night if we let him watching the family life go by.

He seems to like men more than women, he will step up on my arm fine though but prefers tickles from Rick on his terms. I have got him eating a mix of Tidymix seed and Animalzone pellets which he has taken to OK so I am hoping now he is on the pellets he may start to grow back some feathers but will be a long

He has settled well been out on the table top stand, will step up but not so keen on tickles lol bugger is quick!

Here are a few pics –
