Meet Casper!

March 22nd, 2011
Meet Casper!

On Saturday we made the long trip up to collect Casper from Jenny and her daughter.

Casper is about 5 years old and has been a little nippy at his home with them and not really handled much not from the want to just a little worried of being bitten which i can understand .. it hurts!, Rick seemed to have a way with his straight off and as we let him out he spent some time with him on the floor tickling his head and neck which he seemed to enjoy lots!

He has a lovely big cage and is a little worried about new things being added in to his cage as are a lot of Greys.

He is settling in lovely and he will make someone a lovely Grey when he is found his forever home, you could tell he just longed to be handled and tickled lots which i am sure he will be he is a very chilled out Grey!

More to follow on Casper soon!

Cosmo’s Fast Progress

March 20th, 2011
Cosmo's Fast Progress

Well after only 2 days of being with us Cosmo is making very fast progress!!  He had a shower this morning which he didn’t love but didn’t really hate either.  It’s already made an improvement to his feathers which were looking a little scruffy.  Cosmo is very good at trying new things and is already eating pellets.  He is not aggressive at all and will happily watch me go in and out his cage for his food and water bowls.  He especially likes the hagens and zupreem natural pellets – here’s a couple of pics

Cosmo is also becoming much more vocal.  We have heard him say “hello”, “Cosmo”, “step up” and “come on then”.  He also does a variety of beeps and whistles and imitates a terrible cough!!

Finally and probably the best progress was last night.  Cosmo was having his out of cage time and his curiosity got the better of him.  His first target was Hughie

and a short while after I got a visit too

We are so pleased that Cosmo is settling in so quickly!  I think it was definitely meant to be!

Meet Cosmo!

Meet Cosmo!

Today Hughie traveled quite a way to collect the new AGPC re-home, Cosmo.

He is 2 years old and DNA sexed as male, Cosmo’s owner is sadly ill and is unable to look after him.

Hughie had a long chat and a cuppa with him and then brought the very chirpy Cosmo back, so far Cosmo has spoken a little and when he got home Hughie offered him some veggies which he tucked straight into a bit of red pepper, baby corn on the cob and green beans.

When I came home from work I went straight over to speak to Cosmo and was greeted with a growl!!  Only to be expected after living with only a male so we may have a little work to do. Although I got this growl Cosmo accepted food from my hand and the more I spoke to him the more relaxed he became.

Obviously not one to shy away, Cosmo tucked right in to his chop/mash mix for his tea

This certainly brought him to life and he began swinging around and bashing his toys! He’s been out for a good fly about and we are sure he will be settled in no time at all.

Here’s a few more pictures

Lots more news and photos on Cosmo to follow

Max Has A New Forever Home.

Max Has A New Forever Home.

Well i picked Max up last Sunday (13th) and he,s really settling in well. He went onto Marks arm after being in his new cage for an hour. He seems to love me, as he regurgitates for me most times i talk to him, i do try and distract Max from doing this.

Well today we made a huge step i put 6 pellets into Max’s seed dish, when i looked 30 minutes later they had gone! Happy days.

Max The Senegal

March 6th, 2011
Max The Senegal

Well I picked Max up at Midday today and he is settling in well.

He is a Senegal Parrot aged approximately 7 years and believed Male, and was hand reared. He is quite a friendly little man and has already been on my hands and shoulder.

Max has lived with dogs and is friendly with most people although like most Parrots he will nip occasionally, he has never been clipped and is a very strong flier.

He does say a few words, so far I have heard “hello max” and “stop it”

He will make a lovely companion for the right person.
