Meet Billy-Boy – New Rehome

May 9th, 2012
Meet Billy-Boy - New Rehome

On Sunday I went and collected a lovely grey called Billy, he is 7 years old and quite a funny big guy.

His old owners had made the very hard step to rehome him as she has now gone back to working full time meaning Billy was left on his own for long periods, he is a very independent grey and spends nearly all of his time out doing his own thing. She was very upset at letting Billy go but knows it for his best as he will have company all the time.

He is also a chewer! and will do something naughty and tell himself off while he is doing it so you know he is! Clever boy!

He has been with us a few days now and has settled in fine, I am just getting him use to a new cage as his old one was a little small, and he seems to love it! He has been in and out for a couple of days while i am getting him use to it, He loves his swing and will sit there swinging himself or letting me tickle him while he is on it, Lazy boy he loves a good tickle and will accept me touching him already which is great.

Today I am letting him sit out on his stand as he seems to have settled really well so will update the blog with how that goes soon too.

So far i have been asked “Do you want some peanuts?” a few times and him saying 1 a lot.

He is a lovely grey he loves his pink lady apples (the only apple he will eat) Banana in the morning, red grapes and a blood bath (pomegranate)

Here are a few photos of Billy … Enjoy x

The Lovely Luckies Progress x

The Lovely Luckies Progress x

Well here we are, five weeks in with the lovely luckie and the lovely lady has settled in a treat.

She loves the my children and quite likes my pet shar-pei huggy as well. She is a very quick learner and has settled into our routine already.

She calls my wife sharon to do her evening meal of warm fresh vegtables which she loves. She also shares my breakfast with me in the morning and is a very bubbly girl first thing in the morning.

Luckie enjoys sitting behind me on the sofa while watching the telly and calling my dog.Everyday there is something new she has picked up and has my wife and myself in stiches.so all is going well and she is so happy, As i am with her all day and into the evening when she tells me “luckie go nite nites c,mon bedtime put my cover on” amazing same time every night.

So i have to watch most 2nd half’s of a footy match upstairs so we are very pleased and happy just like the lovely luckie x

Poppy (aka Britney)

Poppy (aka Britney)

Well we’ve had Poppy now for what seems an eternity, but in reality its been 5 months. She has settled in so well and is now a big part of our lives, she is so funny and happy to please (me anyway). She has become attached to me and has taken a slght dislike to Karen if we are in the room together.

She has been outside in the sunshine in the past few weeks but due to the horrible weather lately that was short lived. She loved the sunshine and i could see a real difference the outdoors had upon her especially after a full on shower!!

Her feathers are still very tatty but she has just started to moult so hopefully the tatty one will drop out and she will grow nice new feathers that she will leave alone. She still has the occassional pluck but nothing near to what she has done in the past.

Marley and Poppy love each others attention and they constantly chatter to each other. Poppy has learnt many new words but her favourite at the moment is “Pig”, she tends to use this after a really loud burp.

I’ve finally managed to download some photos of her which are from the past couple of months although she doesn’t seem to like the flash on the camera.

Sad News And Busby Get’s His Forever Home

Sad News And Busby Get's His Forever Home

Busby has been with us now since March and Jen his owner was moving and having to go to work full time and she wanted Busby to be somewhere around people and not on his own so she contacted us, she was so upset when she handed him over and I asked her was she doing the right thing, he is such a lovely bird she had done so much to bring him round to a cuddly tame little grey, it was left that she would get herself moved and then let me know if she wanted him back as she missed him so much!!

The last contact I had with Jen was on the 22nd March when she emailed me in reply to me telling her how much Busby loved everyone and even the children! I emailed her back with some photos of Busby enjoying the sunshine outside in the garden but never heard anything back and thought she must be busy with moving.

Sadly I had a call from Jens Son who told me Jen had sadly passed away in Early April very suddenly which left all her family really shocked as she was quite well when I met her, I was very shocked also and i told her i would look after Busby and that is what I will do.

Jen was laid to rest on the 19th April 2012 and my thoughts are still with her family, she was such a lovely lady and when I met her she made a massive impression on me, she was such a strong woman and I will never forget her – RIP Jen i will look after your little man and keep his blog updated for you to see x

So Busby’s new forever home is right here with us and he fits in great as you can see below –

Archie Has Settled Himself In!

May 2nd, 2012
Archie Has Settled Himself In!

This is my first update on this very special boy.  I went over to see Mandy just over ten days ago after been chosen to give him his forever home. What a perfect bird he is. He has clearly been so well cared for and socialised by his previous owners. Mandy explained the circumstances leading up to him being rehomed and I can only imagine what a tough decision it must have been for them. They were very kind to send him to his new home with all of his toys, his cage and a travel cage too, such a spoilt boy!!

Archie will go to absolutely everyone, such a rarity. I have been careful not to overwhelm him but he sits on his cage door flapping his wings until he is picked up by anyone he takes a fancy to. He is left out all the time we are home and he is so content to play on top of his cage or down on the floor with us. I only work a few hours a day so he comes out for an hour or so before I go, then again for an hour about lunchtime, then for at least 7 hrs before his bedtime. When he is covered at night, he peeps under his covers, says SHHHH  and says NIGHT. It makes me laugh every time as its just so cute. He is quite chatty and now he has had chance to settle we have heard: Archie, Hello Archie, Good Boy, Alright?, and lots of noises. I have already instructed my partner to make him a shelf for above his cage for another play area. He is yet to see the huge playstand I have!!!

Due to the fact he is so handleable, he has been in his travel cage and has been out visiting to some relatives, my work, been down the park, in the garden, in the bathroom…..in fact, where we go, he goes!! He has given my children (aged 14 and 11 yrs) such confidence as our previous Grey was rather feisty and would only tolerate me!. Archie has taken rather a shine to my daughter and chooses to sit with her in the evening demanding head rubs. He is so gentle, calm and laid back. I really have never met such a perfect boy. I am so delighted to have him and will of course keep his blog updated regularly.

Many many thanks to AGPC (Paula and Mandy) for choosing me as Archie’s match. I know it was a very difficult decision for his previous owners to let him go, I promise you he will be so loved and spoilt. I have your written notes about him and am keeping his routine as close to how  it was when he was with you. You should be so proud of him, he is truly perfect.
