Zulu – Makes Herself At Home!

Zulu - Makes Herself At Home!

Well Zulu has been with us a few weeks now and is getting her feet under the table…

She must be one of the most talkative rescue greys we have ever had here, when she gets going she goess, at the moment what she is saying a lot is ” wanna go for a walk!”, “Now then bird”, “Shut it you silly bitch” “Wanna Shower” and “Alright Sweetheart” just to list a few.

She is very protective of her cage but seems so much more at ease when she is out as you can see from the photos below she will come to both of us she loves to be out of her cage and steps up onto my arm and my husband Ricks too which is great she will come to both of us :)

Enjoy the photos below …there are lots of them!

Testimonial From Zulu’s Old Owners!

Testimonial From Zulu's Old Owners!

It is a little under 4 weeks ago that we had to give our beloved Zulu up.It is not through want of trying when we made the decision to emigrate three years ago Parrots were allowed to be imported but in the long process it took us to get the visa they changed the rules so we were left with the heartbreaking decision what to do with our lovely girl Zulu?

A friend had offered to have her and although I knew she would be well fed and watered she would never be out of the cage or get the attention she is used to! I did consider zoos but again did not feel it was right so I even considered as much as I hate to say it now euthanasia as we were so worried that she would end up somewhere stressed and not cared for.

So I searched on the net and found the African Grey Parrot Centre and after just the first email I received from Paula I felt more confident about things. Paula and me communicated on several times as I really didn’t want to let Zulu go till the last minute however time came when we wanted her out before all the stress of the removals so Paula came to collect her

As soon as I met Paula I felt so confident and happy that we had done the right thing by Zulu, and I even feel she may well one day end up in a home where she gets even more spoilt than she was here! Unfortunately as often happens it was me who wanted a parrot hubby had no interest at all so she then bonded with him loved him to bits he could do anything with her shower her cuddle kiss you name it and she used to bite me!! So I lost all confidence with her but the day Paula got her back she text me to tell me she had Zulu out on her arm already so a good start me thinks!!!

I’m just hoping Paula will be able to get her language to calm down a bit rather blue at times, believe it or not we never actually taught her to say all those words but I think they tend to pick up the swearing easier than anything else .but I can honestly say that it was the hardest decision I have had to make rehoming Zulu but Paula has made me feel 100 percent happier about it and I am full of admiration for her she has young children yet still can find the time to delicate herself to rescuing parrots she is a very lovely caring girl.

We sure do miss Zulu around the house but at least now we are able to go off and start our new adventure knowing Zulu will be happy and it is so lovely being able to see her blog on the website such a brilliant idea really does bring comfort x

Update on Elvis

Update on Elvis

Well its been a while since I posted an update on Elvis so thought I better do a quick catch up. Well he is a little love and is well settled in now. He gets on with Jack and Leo really well. He is right at home and loves to sit and have his head tickled at night.

He talks loads and will happily sit on his tree stand telling me over and over again what a good boy he is.

I’m just in the process of trying to convert him to pellets – without much success at the moment – but I’ll keep try.

Anyway, thats us for now – will update you soon x

Cookie Stands His Ground!

Cookie Stands His Ground!

Hello Angela here Cookies mum,i dont seem to be doing this right as i am useless with computers i some how put in reports about cookie but not in the right place, so please bear with me i need to get help from someone who knows what they are doing,if i had a brain cell i would be dangerous!!

Anyway if anyone is lucky enough to read this Cookie is doing very well and i really hope this herbal treatment continues to help the plucking so far so good! He loves to be out of his cage and can run very fast when he has to go back in to his cage, so with those little legs going ten to the dozen and of course quite a few nips we take about 20 to 30 mins to get him into the cage.

Cookie and poppy come out together now but young poppy is rather a bossy little madam and likes to show Cookie who is boss, but now cookie is starting to stand his ground which is good! I also put poppy in her cage and give cookie some peace, mind you they both talk so well to each other in fact some days they dont know when to stop I love it :)

Must go now as cookie wants to come out, bless him,

Bye for now will update again soon

Angela,cookie and poppy.xxx
