New Rescue for AGPC – Meet Oscar

September 20th, 2011
New Rescue for AGPC - Meet Oscar

Here is Oscar. I collected him from his owner John recently, who sadly had to find a new home for him due to becoming ill. John was clearly very sad to see Oscar go, but he knows rehoming Oscar via the AGPC was the best thing to do in the circumstances.

Oscar travelled very well and shouted a few ‘hellos’ along the way. We built up his cage and settled him in and he was soon tucking into his food. During the evening he was pretty quiet but was left to settle in.

The next day he came out to play and treated us to some of his words. He shouts for ‘Rosie’ and tells Layla to ‘get down’ he says ‘hello’ and when we say goodbye he tells us ‘see ya later’
He is on a seed diet at the moment but I’ve seen him nibbling on the odd pellet. He’s had some pomegranate, radish, grape, pasta, carrot and Brussels sprouts.

He is a fantastic flyer and does several laps of the room regularly and loves to play on top of his cage with his new toys.
He can hear my 2 birds Gary and Angus from the other room and they call to each other and shout ‘hello’. Oscar is a lovely bird and a credit to John.

Bobby – Ducking Bar-Steward!

Bobby - Ducking Bar-Steward!

Well it has been a few weeks since Bobby came here and all I can say is well he has well and truly settled in!

Today I was greeted by the usual ” Hello Bob, Bob, Bobbbbbyyyyyyyyy!” and while getting on with my housework he was chatting away to me but then to my horror he shouted “f***ing B***ard!!” followed by “ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” Also he has been saying F***ing Hell!! I am ignoring him when he says these and saying “What you doing ” instead to see if he will change and say that instead….Time will tell!

Well I was a little shocked as he had been very polite up until today but it normally does take a little while for them to settle in and become relaxed!

Bobby is a real happy grey and nothing really bothers him at all, he has let us both stroke him and also other family members so that is really good :) He enjoys his fruit and Veg and goes crazy for warm whole meal pasta and is a dunker when it comes to things you give him like his palm oil on whole meal toast he takes it straight over to his water bowl dunks it in then sits and eats the lot… very sweet!

He enjoys his time out of his cage and would happily stay out all day long and he is a good flyer too but is quite happy sat up on top of his cage.

Here are some more photo’s of him –

Swazi – Three Months On

Swazi - Three Months On

Hello everybody. I thought it about time to let you know how the wonderful Swazi is getting on since he came to live with me, as his new forever home.

I picked Swazi up from Paula, and drove the long journey back home chatting away to him, and tickling his foot through the travel cage bars. He seemed very inquisitive, and made me laugh so much, as he kept making this strange ” yawning” noise – like he must have been thinking,oh, Lord, is he ever gonna be quiet?!

It didn’t take Swazi long to settle into his new environment. I bought him a new cage, but out a couple of his old familiar toys inside, as well as new perches and bits and pieces. I was told that he loved his walnuts, and he certainly does, and has one every day or so. I have another Grey called Dave, who I got from Paula as a baby, and even though they were apart initially, they could hear each other.

Swazi was not for coming to me at all, and gave me plenty of bites, when I wasn’t quick enough to move – the little monkey, but as time has gone by, he has got just that little bit more trusting. I get the occasional head rub, and beak rubs, which is lovely. Everyday he comes out of his cage, and mostly stays around his cage, sitting, chatting away, watching the world go by. He is now beside Dave, and the two of them chatter NON STOP! Swazi will mimic the telephone ring, and Dave will answer it – Hello, Terry Quinn! Lol

Of course, the day wouldn’t be complete. If Swazi didn’t give me his rendition of The Great Escape and Also the MacDonalds theme tune! :-)

I don’t think Swazi and Dave will ever be best buddies, as they rarely go near each other, but as I say, they chatter to each other constantly.

Even though Swazi. Has a clipped wing, he does manage to fly from his cage and have a walk around. He even steps up into my arm from the floor, so that. I can put him back onto his cage.

He is eating really well, and enjoys his daily vegetables and fruit, as well as his birdie mash and tidy mix. He isn’t at all fussy. When I have people over, Swazi always endears himself to them – which is really strange, as he is so much more friendly towards them, and allows some of them to give him a tickle, whereas if I tried to tickle him, he would have my finger off in a flash Haha

Anyway, I will continue to let you know of his progress each month or so, and keep you up to date with his antics he is a little ( well not so little) beauty – and I am so pleased to be able to offer him a loving home – he is just part of my family now, and much loved

Regards
Tezza

Cosmo After 6 Months!

Cosmo After 6 Months!

Can you believe Cosmo has been with us for 6 months already?  Time really does fly when you’re having fun  :)

So there’s lots to update you on since it’s been a while.  Cosmo is most definitely settled with us and is a fantastic member of our flock!  He has become more and more confident and also taken a real liking to me.  Every morning when I uncover him he comes over, asks for a kiss and then tried to feed me.  When I give him his breakfast he says “There ya go” and tucks in to his toast.  Then at night he asks for a kiss before he goes to bed.  When I leave for work he says “cheerio, see ya later” and is constantly asking “what you doin’?”.

He is still as cute as ever as you can see

Cosmo is a very active boy and loves to play with Echo.  They fly after each other and play.  They still do a bit of beaking but they are starting to be more curious and can be next to each other without too much trouble.  Here is Echo on the left and Cosmo on the right.

As well as being a poser and non stop, Cosmo is such a talker!  He picks up new words and phrases so quickly!  Here is a video of him I filmed one morning. The picture is not great but you can certainly hear him – Puppy Power!!!!

I did have another video with him singing “Pop Goes The Weasel” but he also says some naughty words he copied from our Billy – tut tut!!

Cosmo loves all his food although does sometimes like to fight with it!  He hold it with one foot, hits himself on the head with it and gives it into trouble, calling it bad  lol.

He has certainly come a long way in the time he’s been with us, considering the fact he growled at me when we first met and now I can rub his beak, give head scratches and he will try to feed me and make all the loving noises to me.  I know we will have many more years of joy with Cosmo and the rest of the flock.

Here’s a few more pics of the little guy to finish off  :)

Meet Our New Rescue – Bobby!

Meet Our New Rescue - Bobby!

I would like to tell you all about our latest rehome to join AGPC his name is Bobby.

Boddy is about 6 years old as far as his old owners can work out, he is a bad plucker and shredder of his feathers. His old owners just didn’t have the time to spend with him and let him out as much as they wanted to so they thought it would be best to rehome him to us.

Bobby spends most of the day shouting, “Joesph” “Hello Bob Bobbyyyyy” “Bob this and Bob that” “Tickle” ” Come on then” barks like a little dog and laughs, burps and farts! He is a little wary of being stroked or tickled, loves coming out of his cage as soon as you open the door he is straight out, he loves Pear is now on Tidymix and some pellets mixed together.

He is a lovely bird who is looking for a forever home with someone that is there most of the time so he has company.

Here are a few photos of the cheeky chappy!
