George – In His Forever Home x

George - In His Forever Home x

Well, I would like to introduce myself, my name s Karen and I recently became George’s new mummy.

George is definately a very inquisitive boy, loves to whistle, play with his toys and has started to say more now.

I have been getting him used to the household routine and he is absolutely lovely.

However this morning George decided to perform his mating dance for me and throughout the day he just regurgitates, drops his wing, rolls on his back, I can do anything with him.

He has started to repeat words we say and spent the last two hours saying “hello” “nite nite”. So early days yet but he is fitting into the family just fine.

I will work out how to add photos and videos so I can keep you all updated with his new antics.

Off to bed now with George shouting nite nite, and my hahns macaw shouting, bye bye, lovely and quiet lol.

Angels Latest Update!

Angels Latest Update!

Well it has been a while since I posted about Angel, things are still the same she is her normal lovely self and is starting to chat a lot more now which is nice as she didn’t really say much when I collected her apart from a naughty word! She really has settled in to our house and chatters more and more as the days go on! She knows her new name that’s for sure!

She has got use to her little corner cage and is using the little rope hammock thing I put in there so she can stand/learn by her bowl, she is normally mostly comfy hanging on to the front of her cage which saddens me but I guess it is the angle of her feet that is just how best she can hold on, as she sits like that most of the time she always poop’s out of the front of the cage, so its a nice job to do each morning cleaning the front of the cage down and the floor which I covered with a plastic carpet protector (good stuff that!). So i am pleased she is trusting her cage and using the things I put in place to make her life a bit easier, she does still from time to time get her bad bad leg caught round the bars, and if I am not there at that moment she sits and waits for me to free her, its very cute she doesn’t get in a mess and flap trying to free herself she just waits, so I think she knows it’s not going to work.

I put Angel on Animalzone foods and she took to it straight away the pellets and muesli and over the last 2 weeks I have been giving her the Animalzone Cereal and she adores it, she has it warm in the morning first thing when I come down to change her food and water, (she sleeps on her water bowl so it is always messy by morning) she goes mad for it and gets really stuck in, she will sit there for a good hour just eating so i am happy about that.

Here are some photos of her enjoying it

Look at me with it all round my mouth!!!

She is such a darling and I hope that her going in for her operation will give her at least a slightly normal life which she so deserves, just to be able to perch like a normal bird would be enough :)

I will post about her operation date tomorrow as I am pretty tired right now after not feeling well since the weekend and a poorly rabbit to nurse too it will be much easier on a fresh head!

Massive thanks from us at AGPC and Angel too for donating and making this possible…

Catch you tomorrow … lots of love x

Meet Rocky – Blue Front Amazon

Meet Rocky - Blue Front Amazon

Last week I collected a blue front Amazon called Rocky from a lovely lady, Rocky was her husbands bird who sadly passed away a year and a half ago.

Rocky is 16 years old and believed to me male (i think he is too),he is quite a large bird and he was very bonded with her husband and since they lost him they haven’t been able to get close to him, they use to have a African grey too who sadly passed away just after he did , due to a broken heart it is believed and Rocky has also missed her, so has been pretty moody and down, he loved the dog and they use to sing together,

She wanted Rocky to be happy and asked for us to rehome him.

Rocky has settled in well and has said Hello a few times and loves to be out of his cage.

Here are a few photos of him and I will keep you posted with how he is getting on…

Lady Update Jan 2012

Lady Update Jan 2012

Lady is still doing well, she still has her chest feathers and is still a quite character!!

She’s becoming more confident in the parrot room, and will now venture into the kitchen to look for me, and she loves to sit on one of the trees in front of the window so she can watch us when we are in the kitchen.

She still hates the kids, and can only join me for evening cuddles after the kids have gone to bed, this is so she cannot attack them. She still likes to attack the other animals though and will antagonise the dog at every opportunity!! What’s worse is that she wins every time, and the poor dog ends up running off to sulk which makes Lady more confident and more determined to get the dog even more….

Lady is such a funny girl, her giggle is the most dirtiest I’ve ever heard, but usually we only hear it after she’s bitten someone or something!! In her own way, she knows she’s the boss except for when my Grey is out because he is the only male and is king of the castle, but I think Lady accepts this, and is happy being boss number 2.

Our house would never be the same without her, and with her antics, she certainly makes our house a more lively place.
I couldn’t imagine my world without Lady, she’s a nutter just like her mama ;)

Meet Scrim – AGPC Newest Rescue

Meet Scrim - AGPC Newest Rescue

On Sunday 5th Feb 2012, Stevie and I collected a lovely CAG, she’s almost 17 years old.
She needed to be re homed as her owner has health problems.

She traveled very well from Preston to Glasgow and “beeped” all the way while we traveled.
She is a timid birdie and slightly nervous.

Once we got her here, I got her out of her cage so she could stretch her wings, she put her head down and I gave her lots of tickles.

She has had a very bad clip many years ago and her feathers have never grown back.
She did try to fly but she had a very graceful crash landing on our floor, poor thing, but she was unharmed and was very happy to be picked up.
She also has a few pressure sores on one of her feet, but they are not serious, she just needs different perches.
She also has a slightly long beak, but that again will trim down once she starts to rub it on good perches and chews wooden toys etc.
At the moment we are in the process of introducing toys to her as she needs to learn how to play with them, we popped one toy in her cage and although she has not played with it, it has not stopped her traveling about the cage, and she does go near it so I’m sure she’ll start to play soon.

I’ve also introduced her to Animal Zone Pellets and Mash/chop. which she’s enjoying.

Her previous owners said she does talk, but far we’ve not heard her talk, but she does beep and whistle.

She will be moving to her new forever home at the weekend, she’ll be going to live with PamH and her husband Jim, Pam is a member of this forum, Pam has decided to change Scrims name to Topsy, so from now on we’ll be using her new name.

I know she’ll be very happy when she moves to Pam and Jim’s and will be spoilt and loved so much, she’s a very lucky birdie to be getting Pam and Jim as parronts.

Julie
